Supportive Insights
July 28th, 2010 by Lydia
I’ve been going through some big transitions lately. Not only am I launching a coaching practice, but I’m also doing so in a new city. That’s not such a small feat and I know I could use some help in the support arena.
I grabbed my scissors, started selecting images from my library of magazines, tore them out and started collaging. The result is the SoulCollage® image that accompanies this post, an image that represents support.
I wrote about creating support networks in one of my previous posts and want to offer another tool for gaining insight on support that can serve you.
When I make a SoulCollage card, I do a reading with it. I always speak from the point of view of the card, not my own, and start by completing the statement, “I Am The One Who…”
Here is my reading for the Support card:
I am the one who holds your struggle. I look forward to what is next with you. I am a witness to your journey. Things may come at you at a fast pace or not fast enough, but in this moment we are still and the support I offer is constant, steady. Everything around us is vast and so are your possibilities.
What I want you to know is that you can always call on the energy that you need for support. It’s just as constant as I am.
Here’s why doing a SoulCollage reading is helpful: it gets your head out of the way and all the self-conscious censors that come with it. By speaking in the first person from the point of view of the card, you start accessing your own intuitive wisdom.
You can use the same process with the images that appear with the posts. They are also in the gallery. If you have a specific question that you want answers to, here are some tips:
- Ask an open-ended question. Don’t ask, “When will I be rich?” This isn’t fortune telling.
- Ask an open-ended question whose answers will give you valuable insight for what you are currently experiencing. For example, “How do I create support systems for myself while I am in transition?”
- When you have your question, complete the statement “I Am The One Who…” from the point of the card. Don’t censor yourself. Go with the flow and allow your stream of consciousness to speak.
You can watch a video on how to do a SoulCollage reading here. Try on the process and share your insights in the comments. You can use any of the images in the gallery more than once and get a completely different reading every time. Give it a try.
If you have your own deck of SoulCollage cards, leave a comment and share what you gain from creating and using them.
